Private tutor in Townsville, Australia
Education
Hi, my name is Farhan and I am a recent JCU graduate with a Class I Honors in Mechanical Engineering. I graduated with a GPA of 6.74/7, attaining multiple academic accolades including the University Medal and the top graduating Mechanical Engineering student (2018-2021). I graduated school (TGS) with an OP2 (ATAR 97.5-98.5 or IB 39-41 equivalent) from TGS and have 3+ years in tutoring experience in the subjects and areas mentioned below. I have a proven record of elevating student results in maths and science (physics) and look to further aid students overcoming the challenge of the ATAR/IB education, as well as those in university enrolled in 1st year mathematic subjects. Having tutored both ATAR and IB subjects (as well as QCAA OP subjects early on), I have a multitude of experience in the education system. Additionally, if you are looking for tutoring in university maths (MA1XXX subjects at JCU), I am also available for the same rate (rates are variable shown below).
Experience
What sets me apart from most tutors on this site is my ability to show students how the content they learn is actually useful and why it is important, particularly in engineering applications. Additionally, with a thorough understanding in Engineering & Mathematics, I can show students why they are learning math's, how it develops into university-level math's and prove theorems & equations to give a deeper (and more appreciative) understanding of concepts. I believe a lot of tutors cannot provide this level of depth and insight into math's and physics, and that this type of tutoring allows students to go from "study to pass" attitude to a "learn to understand" attitude. Most math tutors answer the "how" questions, but aren't able to explain the "why" - knowing "why" will allow you to go from a B to an A, or a C to a B. As a university medalist in engineering, I can tell you that this transition is absolutely key to nailing any level of math's and problem-solving subjects in school, university, and beyond. In my experience, (IB) students that had booked me once a week during school holidays saw increased retention and understanding than those that did not and ultimately benefitted their learning. With the ATAR system also following a similar cumulative assessment method as IB, it is recommended to continue tutoring over study breaks in less frequent intervals. For this reason, I offer 20% discount to all tutoring sessions during the standard QLD school holiday calendar. Subjects I have tutored in the past include: - Grade 7-12 Maths (of all levels, inlcuding IB maths) - Grade 8-10 Science + Physics - Grade 11&12 Physics - MA1000 (university maths)
